New Zealand’s Westland Temperate Rainforests are situated along the focal west shore of the nation’s South Island. It is known as Te Waipounamou in Māori and nicknamed locally as the ‘wet coat’.
The restricted piece of rainforest keeps running between the Southern Alps and the Tasman Sea and incorporates the Franz Josef and Fox icy masses – one of only a handful couple of spots on the planet where ice sheets and rainforest meet.
